LastPass Is Trying To Make a Comeback

It’s making strides toward a comeback reputationally.

LastPass, one of the best marketed and fully featured Password Manager programs available.

Posts about LastPass in late December after they disclosed the theft of password vaults were…unkind. Criticisms (including mine) targeted the pre-holiday disclosure on a late Friday, highly technical language most consumers couldn’t grok, and the lack of any clear taking of responsibility.

Then LastPass went quiet. I might have called it LastPast.

After the December 22, 2022 blog post named Notice of Recent Security Incident, the company posted nothing until March. It began again with regular and expected content from that point.

What happened in those 3 months? Digging. Learning. Determining.

LastPass’ site shows a posting by the CEO that doesn’t appear in the regular blog itself.  I looked twice and couldn’t find it in the chronological listing of blog postings from the footer link for the blog. Skips from December 22 to March 16th in the recents.

I’ve also linked an interview with CEO Karim Toubba, who’s portrayed as likeable and forward thinking. He’s certainly endured quite a year.

Communication’s key. These recent and regular posts should help bolster the company’s image and attain new customers. Former customers likely remain stung, though.

The product’s probably never been safer. Hopefully.
