Mushroom Infiltration?

Very poisonous mushrooms - red and white

Private.

Businesses store data. Theirs, yours, others’.

Privacy laws are popping up like late spring mushrooms around oak trees. Core content and intent is the same, but with slightly differing notification requirements for breach of privacy, which is what a data breach is.

If an organization leaks data or has it stolen, it’ll need to determine a few things:
1) What data’s been taken?
2) Who owns it?
3) What’s the moral exposure?
4) What’s the legal exposure?

If there’s even a single affected resident of a state – say California, that organization will have to comply with California’s requirements for reporting the breach.

One more – and fairly stark and humorless – reason to put cybersecurity into your business risk strategizing.
