Anywhere.
Travel site KAYAK has any “Anywhere” option. Simply provide my starting location airport, and it’ll do its searchy magic and show me flight location options sporting attractive prices.
Ooh! Inexpensive flights!
You know what it doesn’t do?
It doesn’t immediately book me or transport me to a location. There’s more work to do.
And that’s GOOD. Imagine I said “Anywhere’s good!” And then I found myself in the middle of the ocean, a desert, or somewhere without fried chicken.
When I click on a link in my email, though, I’m on my way instantly. I’m at the mercy of the email sender, who might be promising me Orlando and sending me somewhere in Russia.
Might be promising a $50 gift card but injecting malware instead.
No interrupt when I click a link. It just…links.
Zazoomlin! (Where AM I?)
So, no matter how tempted I might be to “do it, do it NOW” on Internet teleporting, it’s far better to do this.
Pause.
Review.
Corroborate the info outside of the email. Open your favorite search engine and go to work.
Regarding those pesky email links. Don’t click. Visit sites intentionally.
Have a good flight!
